The buzzword today is “the cloud”   It is a shift in thinking of storing things on the internet instead of on your home or work network.   Having things on the internet means that you can be anywhere you have an internet connection and access your personal documents and information.  This is very powerful for anyone who works with lots of digital information.  You could go to a friends house or on vacation and never be missing that email, presentation or spreadsheet.   You can also store pictures and videos in the cloud.   Numerous companies are hosting cloud services.  Some of the more popular names are Google, Microsoft, Dropbox, Amazon, and Cisco.  We are all starting to get more comfortable with this term as the services become better.   I personally have been using dropbox for storing my most used documents and files.  I have some images I am working on and I find I can save them to dropbox and access them from anywhere.   I have been using Google Docs for the last 3 years.  Google docs is a basic version of Word, Excel and Powerpoint.  It doesn’t have near the capability of the Microsoft tools but it is free and comes with a Gmail account.  I use it with my wife to share our budget spreadsheet as well as our weekly goal spreadsheet.  She loves the fact that I update it.    Anything is possible with the cloud.
